Retirement Center Staff (Full-Time)
Shelley
Glazer
Shelley Glazer is the founding executive director of the UC Berkeley Retirement
Center. She is also a founding board member and President of the Association of Retirement
Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE). During her 27 years in the field of gerontology,
Shelley has worked in a multitude of settings including a senior multipurpose center, health
care corporation, hospital, medical group, and a community health clinic. She holds two master's
degrees from Cal Berkeley; a master's in social welfare with an emphasis on management and
planning and gerontology and a master's degree in public health with an emphasis on community
health education. She did her undergraduate work at UC Davis and UCLA and has been “blue
and gold” since she was ten years old.
Andre Porter 
Andre Porter serves as program manager and has worked for the Retirement Center since 2001. His responsibilities include the Learning
in Retirement, Cal Retirement Center Network,the
staff Pre-Retirement Planning and other programs. Andre also serves as computer systems,
database and web administrator for the department. He is a recipient of the 2006
Chancellor’s
Outstanding Staff Award. He received his B.S. in Business Administration (Finance) from
California State University, East Bay (Hayward). Andre enjoys international
travel, golf, cultural events, and hiking/backpacking. He also serves on the Berkeley-Albany YMCA Teen Center Capital Campaign Steering Committee.
Retirement Center Staff (Part-Time)
Gloria Parra
Gloria Parra, who retired from her full-time position as the Center’s program manager
in June 2006, currently serves as a part-time program manager, responsible for the Retiree
Work Opportunities program.
Linda Dayce 
Linda Dayce has worked as an administrative assistant at the Retirement Center since
retiring in 2001. Before retiring after working 18 years at the university, she worked as
an assistant administrative analyst and office manager at the UC Energy Institute. Her favorite
pastimes are working with the elderly and disadvantaged youth in her community.
Student Assistant
Kay Chan 
Kay Chan has been a student assistant at the Retirement Center since 2005.
Her main duties are to provide administrative support for the Pre-Retirement Planning and
Retiree Work Opportunities programs. Kay’s aspiration is to work in the medical field
and is currently a junior, majoring in Integrative Biology.
